Event Blog 1 | Rita McBride’s Particulates For my first event blog this quarter, I had the honor and privilege of visiting Rita McBride’s exhibition Particulates , located in the Hammer Museum. This exhibit features an architectural geometric sculpture composed purely of the “high-intensity laser beams, water molecules, and the dust particles in the air” (Hammer Museum). Walking in through the doors to the exhibit, I was immediately engulfed by the darkness of the room. A multiplicity of straight neon green lines of light emanated from one side of the room to the other, converging into one another to create an outline of an angled cylinder. The angle of the structure shifted and diverged as I walked through the room. From the entrance, the green lines of the laser were sharp. Yet, as I walked closer, they disintegrated, revealing the particulate matter of water and dust in the air.
